Renault is gearing up to make a strong comeback in India’s competitive SUV market with a brand-new 7-seater model, the Renault Boreal, set to arrive by mid-2026. The upcoming SUV will expand on the design and engineering philosophy of the next-generation Duster, blending practicality with premium styling and advanced features.

Bold Design with Rugged Appeal

The Renault Boreal will stand out with its commanding road presence and refined exterior detailing. With an estimated length of around 4.7 meters, it offers a more spacious cabin than its 5-seater counterpart. A robust ground clearance of 213 mm makes it well-suited for Indian terrains. The front will carry Renault’s new diamond badge, flanked by sleek LED headlamps and a muscular bumper design. From the side, pronounced wheel arches, roof rails, and stylish dual-tone alloy wheels enhance its SUV identity, while the rear features Y-shaped LED tail lamps, a sporty spoiler, and a modern sculpted tailgate.

Premium Cabin Experience

Inside, the Boreal promises a combination of modern technology and high comfort. It is expected to feature a 7-inch or 10-inch digital instrument display, a flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, and ambient lighting with up to 48 color settings. Adding to the luxury feel, amenities such as a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, electric seat adjustment, and a powered tailgate are likely to be offered. Entertainment duties will be handled by a premium 10-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system, creating a true in-cabin theatre experience.

When it comes to safety, Renault aims to equip the Boreal with ADAS functionalities, six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, and a 360-degree camera for enhanced awareness on the road.

Performance and Powertrain Options

Under the hood, the Renault Boreal will feature a 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol engine generating 151 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Buyers will have a choice between a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DCT automatic. Additionally, Renault is preparing a 1.2-liter mild hybrid version that offers improved fuel economy and reduced emissions. A strong hybrid variant is also in development, expected to combine a 1.6-liter engine with dual electric motors and a compact battery pack delivering about 140 bhp.

Once launched, it will compete directly with segment leaders such as the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XUV700.

With its blend of comfort, technology, and style, the Renault Boreal could become a key player in redefining the premium 7-seater SUV category in India.
